September 4 - Yet more 'leaks' for Silent Hill 2 Remake

More images that reportedly show a Silent Hill 2 Remake have ‘leaked’ online over the weekend.

According to industry insider Dusk Golem, these images apparently originated from an internal pitch demo for the game, which VGC‘s sources have since corroborated.

“These are from an internal pitch demo from Bloober before they got greenlit, so it’s literally a no-budget proof of concept thing,” Dusk Golem explained. “This isn’t actually what the final game looks like,” he continued.

A full reveal for the game might be coming sooner than expected given the number of leaks we’re seeing.

August 31 - Konami will announce a 'new' game from a series ‘loved around the world’ at Tokyo Game Show

Konami is going to take the stage at Tokyo Game Show, and revealed they will announce a new game related to a classic series.

At the time of writing Konami has listed a 45-minute show taking place on September 16 which is titled “Konami new release announced”.

Understandably fans of the developer and publisher are now getting very excited over the possibilities, which would obviously include the likes of Silent Hill.

One publishing source has informed VGC that the reveal is likely to be related to “a smaller project, rather than Konami’s larger planned revivals for Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid (the first of which is understood to be furthest along in development)”.

Furthermore, VGC Editor Andy Robinson has suggested that a reveal for any one of the aforementioned series would be more likely to arrive at a bigger “global” event such as a Sony PlayStation State of Play or even The Game Awards in December.

August 18 - Silent Hill 2 Remade in Unreal Engine 5

Konami might still be keeping quiet about what they’re doing with Silent Hill, but one fan has decided to take matters into his own hands with a remake of the Silent Hill 2 opening scene, made in Unreal Engine 5.

You can have a watch of the video just below, or via the YouTube channel for Silent who put in the hard yards to create the video itself.

Silent Hill Remake Leaks

Whilst it might be easy to shake off any leaks or rumours from more spurious sources, when the likes of Jeff Grubb, and VGC News are reporting on a possible remake for Silent Hill, it becomes much harder to ignore.

VGC first reported the news in early 2021, suggesting that The Medium developer Bloober Team could be working on a new Silent Hill after the studio said they were working on an existing horror IP from “a very famous gaming publisher”.

More recently VGC has reiterated that multiple Silent Hill projects are currently in development at studios around the world. Reportedly this includes “a remake, full sequel and story-focused episodic series”.

Around the same time of the report, a slew of leaked concept images for a new Silent Hill appeared online.

Release Date

At the time of writing there is no release date for the Silent Hill Remake (since it hasn’t been formally announced just yet). However, do keep in mind that any such remake could still be quite far off.

As VGC reported previously, Konami has been actively talking to several developers about reviving the Silent Hill IP. It was said that one of the projects was intended to be a “smaller, episodic series of ‘short stories'”.

VGC also suggested that Until Dawn studio Supermassive had once been involved in talks for such a project, which eventually evolved into its Dark Pictures games.

Assuming Konami was planning a spectacular reboot of the series, if they’re planning to start with several smaller episodic ‘short stories’, a proper mainline Silent Hill Remake could be pretty far away from releasing.

That’s everything you need to know about the proposed Silent Hill Remake, but check back for more news, leaks and updates as they become available.
