Dragon's Dogma 2: Release Date, Capcom Leaks, and Everything We Know

Will there be a Dragons Dogma 2? The answer is yes! Capcom has officially announced Dragon’s Dogma 2 and the sequel is confirmed to have entered development, following a leak last year.

During the game’s 10th-anniversary stream, director Hideaki Itsuno – who led the original game – confirmed that a sequel is currently in development.

Dragon’s Dogma had solid, if not spectacular sales when it first launched on PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, but we imagine with so much love for Elden Ring recently, another solid Medieval-inspired hack and slash RPG could also deliver in spades.

As you can imagine, plenty of folks are now speculating as to whether we could see a teaser for the long-rumoured Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Capcom has confirmed that it will be hosting its own live-stream presentation next week, which likely forms part of the Summer Game Fest schedule for June.

The Capcom Showcase will take place on Monday, June 13, at 3pm PT / 6pm ET / 11pm BST.

It sounds like the event will be focused more on titles which have already been announced, which means it’s more likely to focus on Resident Evil 4 and Street Fighter 6, but still, we can always hope for a surprise reveal.

“Introducing the Capcom Showcase, a new live-streamed digital event bringing you the latest Capcom game information,” the tweet reads. “Tune in on June 13, 3pm PT for around 35 minutes of news and in-depth updates on previously announced Capcom titles.”

But this isn’t to say it won’t have some new game announcements. Plus with Capcom confirmed to be part of Summer Game Fest, it sure would be a good time to announce that long awaited sequel. Or at least, one can hope. Either way, tune it, it’ll be fun!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Leaks

Update 16 June - Dragon's Dogma 2 has now been officially announced by Capcom.

Towards the end of 2020, Capcom became the victim of a cyber attack, which the company later confirmed as a ““customized ransomware attack” that led to unauthorized access to its network. Whilst the bulk of data stolen related to corporate, employee, and customer information, there was also another consequence as Capcom’s alleged game development plans for the next four years started to appear online.

According to IGN, some of the titles mentioned in the leak are definitely in development, or at the very least were in development at some point or another. The list itself included the likes of a Resident Evil 4 remake, Monster Hunter 6, and Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Obviously, since nothing has been officially announced you have to take it with a pinch of salt, but given the severity of the leaks, there’s nothing to suggest that we won’t see Dragon’s Dogma 2 in the not too distant future.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Release Date Rumours

Update 16 June - Dragon's Dogma 2 has now been officially announced by Capcom, but no release date has been provided for the game.

The leaked Capcom documents had previously suggested that Dragon’s Dogma 2 had a tentative “Q2 2022” release date. This would have meant a potential launch somewhere between April 2022 and June 2022.

Admittedly, Capcom could still surprise us with a release out of the blue. Stranger things have happened. But to be honest, we think with the game having still not been revealed, it’s more likely that the game could have been pushed back to later in the year or even 2023.
